GOD ANSWERS DESPERATE PRAYERS

Written by Elizabeth Mpundu

By Bishop Imakando
Jonah 1:17,2-7
- When God wants you to do something don't run away.
- God couldn't denial Jonah's prayer
-There's no situation that's beyond God
1. Jonah prayed a desperate prayer.
- God prepared a fish to swallow Jonah
- He did the only thing that was there to do. He prayed a prayer. He knew that God is a God of Mercy and He cried out to God. He prayed a prayer of desperation.
- Even though you feel like it's over you can always cry out to God.
- God kept him alive to bring him to a point of repentance.
- He has kept you alive under normal circumstances you could have been finished. You have survived so much. He has kept you alive because he wants to answer your prayers.
- We are living in a time of desperate situation.
- God heard Jonah's prayer from the belly of the fish.
A) God heard a prayer of a rebellious prophet.
B ) God heard the Prayer from the belly of the fish. There's no place that God can't hear you.He can hear your prayers anywhere. He is present everywhere.
- Hezekiah prayed a desperate prayer.
- Refuse that situation, you deserve better.
- Hannah prayed a desperate prayer. It was a prayer out of her humiliation.
C ) God answered Jonah's prayer. He commanded the fish to vomit him. No Prayer is too hard for God to answer.
God is in control of everything.
- God shut the mouth of Lions concerning Daniel
- God controlled the furnace for the Hebrew boys.
How do I know that you are swallowed?
- When you swallowed you are restricted
-You are rejected
- You stagnate, no progress in life
- Nothing new ever happens to you because you are restricted.Until you are vomited you remain where are.
- Jonah prayed a powerful prayer because it was answered.

Christian Professionals Sunday

Written by Elizabeth Mpundu

By Dr. Kalasa Mwanda:

The Role of a Christian Professional in Building the Lord’s Tabernacle.
A professional is a person who is engaged or qualified in a profession.
Professionals in the bible:
A. The Apostle Paul wrote 13 books of the bible: Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Timothy, Titus, Corinthians, Thessalonians etc.
B. Luke, the Evangelist, a disciple of Paul. Fathers of the early church ascribed to him authorship of 2 voluminous books of the New Testament: Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles – accounting for 27% of text in the New Testament
Did God choose these professionals because of their skill or they got skilled because they were chosen.
GOD DOES NOT CALL THE QUALIFIED HE QUALIFIES THE CALLED.
1 Corthians1:27-29, Jeremiah 1:5

Benefits of building the Lords Tabernacle as a professional:
Exodus 23:25-28
-He will bless our bread and water
-He will take away sickness from our midst
-There will be no miscarriage
-There will be no barrenness
-There will be no premature death
How Does a Christian Professional position themselves for greater Participation in building the “Tabernacle” in this Season?
A. Total humility - Ephesians 3:8
B. Obedience - 1Samnuei 15:22, Proverbs 21:3
-Making yourself available for kingdom tasks.

As a Christian Professional in this Season of Taking Over, and this month of pressing on:
-What has been our role in building the Lord’s Tabernacle?
-What has been our role in supporting the Ministry of His word?
-What has been our in supporting the vulnerable girl-child and the needy amongst us?
-What has been our role in evangelism and reaching out to the lost souls?

==========================================
After the morning services, the christian professionals of the Church met with Pastor Oscar Mumba and Elder Steven Mwale in the youth hall at 15:00hrs.
They were encouraged to be prayerful as believers and rise prayer altars both at home and places of business/work.

Characteristics of professionalism
Appearance, Demeanor, Reliability, Competence, phone etiquette, etc.
Professionalism + Christianity= influential, integrity, quality & quantity of output light & salt of the earth
Professionals are from different works of life. Examples of professionals in the bible:

Luke – Physician Col 4:14
1. The example of Simon Peter
-He was a fisherman: this represents the various occupations and professions we have.
- The washing of nets
They had knocked off going home. The Lord asked Simon to perform a certain task after he had knocked off.
-Results of obedience (availability)
How can you come in as a professional?
- Participation in the ministries
•You are serving God
•You are blessing others with your skill, character, etc. as you interact.
•You demystify the notion that professionals are
unapproachable, unsociable, (they are people like you and me!)
-Avail self by offering expert knowledge in the Bread of Life Health Services, Bookshop, Building projects etc
Common excuse for not serving
I do not have time
I do not know what to do
I do not have any special skills to contribute
They do not need me. But Simon was needed…
The lord does not call the equipped, he equips the called.(Moses, David)
Benefits of Professionals in the Church
Professionals’ participation in the clinic, school – results in providing quality service at much lower cost and a greater impact on the community.
Outsiders such as NGOs and will get to see what we are doing and will begin supporting the good work being conducted.
If we get involved in our numbers (thousands), what an impact we will make on the community and the nation  at large.

Speaking on behalf of Bread of Life Church, Chief Elder Banda, quoted an African Writer Chinua Chebe “A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.” The elder stated that bishop has always been in the battlefront. The pride of every child lies in the stability on the family they come from, that is one of many good reasons we have all come to rejoice in the 40 years of consistent ministry and good marriage. As a church, we have witnessed the good leadership, prayer, the word of God, family values, community values and pledge allegiance to the leadership of Bread of life Church headed by Bishop Imakando. As a Christian never think of divorce, God Should give us grace to love each other in marriage. What has kept Bishop Imakando and Reverend Bernadette is commitment to serving God. Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili appreciated the Bishop for making ministry easier to follow. Bishop Joe Imakando’s ministry started in 1978, the same year he married Bernadette. Bishop Imakando mentioned that it is not his work but God’s work, the Lord always directs the work. The Bishop also acknowledged the Holy Spirit as the senior pastor. One of the key things is to have a vision and implement it. As of marriage, Bishop Imakando, stated that marriage encounters challenges but according to Philippians 1:6, ‘being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ’. A marriage which is begun in God will be seen through whether in good or challenging times. God’s grace is always sufficient. And Reverend Imakando appreciated her husband Bishop Imakando, the family, the church for the prayers and for the faithfulness of God. Towards the end of the celebration, a cake was cut and photos taken with Bishop and Reverend Imakando

2018 Word Explosion Conference - STRETCH

Written by Elizabeth Mpundu

WORD EXPLOSION 2018 Day 4

Evening Session #STRETCH Bishop Tudor Bismarck Zechariah 4:6 - 10

The Bible is a very important book because it is the only book that reveals to us who Jesus is.

John 1:1 shows us that Jesus' heavenly name is the Word. His earthly name is Jesus. If you are please God you have to submit to the pattern that Jesus set. We must be transformed into Jesus' character, example and glory. This begins through repentance.

Galatians 5:16-21, shows us that the works of the flesh must be removed. Transgression is crossing over the line that God has set. An iniquity is a generational kind of sin that runs from one generation to another. Sometimes iniquities can haunt even pastors, if the word does not grow in them.

It is one thing to grow in knowing the word but it is another thing to have the word grow in you.

When we talk of celebrating 40 years of ministry, it is the combination growth in so many areas.

The book of Zechariah has 5 partitions. #The introduction - the challenge to build the House of the LORD. #Night Visions - I pray that God gives you night visions, visions brighter than visions of the day. #The Interlude of Spiritual Renewal #Yahweh's Spiritual Arrival #Establishing Yahweh's Spiritual Arrival.

Isaiah 44:12. Do you know what it takes to keep the fire burning. A leader cannot afford a moment to take a break or to faint. It is time for engagement. It is time for unity. It is time for putting our minds together.

1 Samuel 13:19 - 20. It is a hard thing in the church of Africa to take over, yet we shall push. The African church is a dangerously praying church. But we also need STRATEGY to take us to the next level.

Revival is coming not only in church attendance and church activity - we are stretching to another level. We are taking the palaces, we are taking the market places, we taking the universities, we are taking over. GOD WILL STRETCH US!

BISHOP JOE IMAKANDO'S 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Written by Elizabeth Mpundu

BISHOP JOE IMAKANDO'S 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Bishop Joe Imakando undeniably represents one of the greatest success stories of Zambia's religious history.

Thousands of Bread of Life church members, the clergy, the Zambian government, the entire nation and beyond celebrated 40 years of Bishop Joe Imakando’s consistency, simplicity integrity, sacrifice, wisdom, hard work and dedication, excellent leadership and fatherly love in the Christian ministry on the 2nd of September 2018.

Banda, Council of Elders, Reverends, pastors and distinguished invited guests.

MANY PEOPLE ASK WHAT MAKES Bishop Joseph Imakando tick in Christian ministry?

CONSISTENCY - Bishop Joe Imakando has been consistently doing one thing for 40 years, Preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. He has never jumped from one thing to another. He is a Focused Leader.

SIMPLICITY - Bishop Joe Imakando's messages are simple and straightforward. You don't need to sit with an Oxford Dictionary to understand Bishop Imakando's messages. You just need your brains and an open heart. He doesn't preach to impress, he simply delivers the word that touches all classes of people at the same time. Bishop Imakando's life is not a complicated life, so is his ministry. It is a life very easy to follow.

WISDOM - This rare virtue is what has by God's grace helped Bishop Imakando raise a small former Baptist Congregation into one of Zambia's biggest evangelical denominations. Bishop Imakando let's the people own the vision and let's them run the vision. He leads with the people. He has put transparent structures in place within the denomination to which even himself as founder and bishop is also accountable to. He avoids assuming "the alpha and omega" status in the denomination that he founded. He is just focused on the job - doing God's work.

Speaking during Bishop Imakando’s 40 year celebrations, honourable minister of Justice Given Lubinda alluded to the fact that Bishop Imakando has been outstanding, a source of hope and inspiration, a selfless leader and servant of God who has relentlessly dedicated his life to serving God in this nation and beyond.

Bread of Life Church International (BLCI) was born from a prophetic word on 13th September 1992 from a small Baptist Church with 120 members, to now over 10,000 members with 137 local churches in Zambia and 14 international churches.

Bishop Imakando has established centers of blessings that takes care of the spiritual, physical, social, academic and health needs of society. The Blessing Center in Emmasdale offers education such as the Bread of Life School, Blessing University of Excellence, Clinic, Banking Hall (rented by Cavmont), Cafeteria, Bookshop, Home Based Care for the vulnerable, Girl Child programmes, hosts the widely watched Hour of Blessings television programme just to mention a few.

The minister quoted Joshua 13: 1 and energized Bishop for another 40years, that there is so much to take over just like the theme for Bread Life Church for 2018 - The Year of Taking Over.

And Chief elder for Bread of Life Church Elder Banda, stated that Bishop Joe Imakando is a man of Integrity who willingly accepted the call of God. The chief elder mentioned that despite the 40years not being rosy, as he had to sacrifice personal comfort for the sake of the vision, the bishop kept having faith in God.

The chief elder thanked Bishop Imakando for being a servant leader and proving a safe environment for the church by being a role model of success. The future plans for Bread of Life is to build the Blessing City that will help reduce accommodation, health and education challenges.

Chief elder Banda also thanked Reverend Bernadette Imakando for being such an unquestionable support to the bishop.

Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs honourable Godfridah Sumaili also thanked Bishop Imakando for being such a valuable asset in the nation by standing in the gap praying for mother Zambia.

And  Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) executive director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza, on behalf of EFZ and all the Christian mother bodies congratulated Bishop Imakando on the memorable and important day in the body of Christ. Reverend Mwanza added that Bishop Imakando has made us proud of how God has used him in the four decades of unbroken service in God’s vineyard.

'Bishop Imakando is focused in the calling, dedicated in the service and has been consistent on emphasizing the scripture, uncompromising in character, preaching with clarity and rare wisdom, depicting personal relationship with the Lord.

The bishop has shown simplicity to everyone which is an attribute of servant hood. He teaches what is right in terms of doctrine through a widely watched television programme called the Hour of Blessing. The programme reaches everyone who have testified of prospered job, restored marriages, souls being saved and businesses growing, all this is on the teachings of the cross. People do not need to go far because the bishop is around to learn from.'

Bishop Imakando has made tremendous contribution to body of Christ in particular the EFZ of which he was the Chief Executive Officer and past board chairman.

Reverend Mwanza added that non Zambian authors in the circular have written a history publication entitled, ‘One Zambia, Many Histories – Towards the history of Post Colonial Zambia’. In this regard, this is the right time to write an official biography on Bishop Joe Imakando.

The publication states that, ‘Bishop Joe Imakando is an influential charismatic leader of Zambia’.

In a recorded video interview Bishop Joe Imakando narrated how he answered the call of God to minister in 1976. Thereafter he attended the Bible College in Kenya and the United Kingdom. He served as Baptist Church Pastor for 9 years; thereafter he resigned to serve on the wider body of Christ as Executive Director for Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), an umbrella body that unites Pentecostal and Evangelical churches in Zambia. In 2010, Bishop Imakando was elected President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), an organization that has 10 Southern African countries affiliated to it.

In 1990, Bishop Imakando had an encounter with God that transformed his life; the change was evidenced in his preaching and ministrations of God's word. In August 1992, while in Lagos Nigeria God gave him a vision that led to the birth of Bread of life Church International.

The prophetic word “I am giving you thousands, you will possess the land and feed the people with the Bread of life” was later transformed to “Bringing thousands into the Kingdom” which was in line with the vision of the church.

However, the vision has now been transformed to 'Bringing Tens of Thousands into the Kingdom'.

And the biological children of Bishop Joe and Reverend Bernadette Imakando - Caleb, Phillip, Benjamin, Jonathan have also appreciated their dad for teaching them how to pray, read the Bible, win souls to the Lord and for being a practical example on and off the pulpit. Bishop Imakando’s eldest son Caleb on behalf of his brothers appreciated their father for loving them despite his busy schedules, providing for them, being available to them and sending them to good schools. Caleb also appreciated their mother Reverend Bernadette for being a prayer warrior at all times.

The celebrations took place at the Blessing Centre in Emmasdale where a cake and various gifts were presented to Bishop and Reverend Imakando. Prayers were also offered by one the guest speaker of the 2018 Word Explosion Conference, Enock Sitima.

Congratulatory messages came from across the nation and beyond on Bishop Joe Imakando’s 40 years in ministry.

To God be the glory!

2018 Word Explosion Conference - What Happens when God Visits

Written by Elizabeth Mpundu

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GOD VISITS by Reverend Blankson Habakkuk 1:1-4 God visits for several reasons. Two major reasons are to bring judgement or to impart a blessing. Habakkuk was a prophet who had a burden for the nation of Israel. Habakkuk had a burden to see justice in his nation. Habakkuk prayed and cried to see transformation in his nation but things never seemed to change. God seemed to have remained silent. Why God Remains Silent: (i)To bring us to a place of maturity. There are certain blessings God will not give you until you are mature in character. James 1:2,3 tells us that the trying of our faith produces perseverance which in turn leads to maturity. (ii)To bring us to an appointed time. Psalm 105:19. Joseph faced trials and temptations but God was always with him until he brought him to his appointed time. (iii)To bring His glory to full manifestation. John 9:1, John 11. The delay was to bring forth God's glory. God responded to Habakkuk by showing him how things would unfold - Habakkuk 1:5.
